Ice Prince Makes Bold Declaration Ahead of TOG Album: “Never Tried Any Drug in My Life”

As Nigerian rapper Ice Prince Zamani prepares to release his new album Testimony Of Grace, he has used the moment to make a striking personal declaration — one that sets him apart in an industry where substance use is rarely discussed openly.

In an Instagram post shared ahead of the album’s release, the Jos-born rapper listed a sweeping set of lifestyle changes he has committed to, from cutting out alcohol and quitting smoking to daily exercise and strict dietary rules. But it was one line at the bottom of the list that stopped his followers cold: “I have never tried or had interest in trying any drug or substance or supplements ever in my whole life.”

The statement was not a recent development he was announcing — it was a lifelong fact he was putting on record. In an era where drug use in Nigerian music circles has become an open conversation, with several artists either struggling publicly or speaking candidly about their experiences, Ice Prince’s declaration carries weight precisely because of how quietly he has maintained it.

The lifestyle overhaul did not happen overnight. Speaking on the Echo Room podcast, Ice Prince revealed that his decision to transform his health was sparked by a conversation with producer Chopsticks, who told him: “We need to give them a new look, we need to lose the belly, grow the beard.” Ice Prince said the comment “just sunk in a way that I had never heard before” and that he began his weight loss journey from that exact day.

The results have been visible. Ice Prince subsequently confirmed he had stayed away from cigarettes, alcohol, soda, and energy drinks for a full year, saying: “Quitting Loud and cigarette is by far the best decision I ever made in my life.” A shirtless photograph posted alongside his latest Instagram list showed the physical results of that commitment clearly.

The caption on the post tied everything together: “Testimony Of Grace… Work in progress” — framing his physical and lifestyle transformation as inseparable from the music he was about to release, tagged with the hashtag #TOG.

Ice Prince, born Panshak Henry Zamani on October 30, 1986, has not released a studio album since Jos to The World in 2016. A decade later, he is returning not just with new music but with a very deliberate statement about the man behind it.
