Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new five-year contract with the club, committing his future to Old Trafford until June 2031. The 21-year-old marked the occasion by sharing a photograph on Instagram alongside his parents, holding his number 37 shirt against a Manchester United backdrop. His caption read: “Proud to sign for 5 more years, blessed to call this place home.”
The deal was confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who reported that Mainoo had agreed all terms before the official announcement. Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg added that the contract contains no release clause, giving the club full security over one of their most important assets.
The financial terms reflect Mainoo’s growing importance to the squad. His weekly wages will rise significantly, jumping from £25,000 to a base figure of £120,000 per week, with additional performance-related bonuses included in the agreement.

The new deal arrives after a difficult period for the Stockport-born midfielder. Mainoo had reportedly considered leaving the club both last summer and during the January transfer window, having fallen out of favour under former manager Ruben Amorim. His fortunes changed following the appointment of Michael Carrick as interim manager. Carrick, himself a former United midfielder, quickly restored Mainoo to the starting lineup and has spoken highly of the player’s tactical intelligence and development.
Mainoo responded to that renewed confidence with a string of strong performances. After United’s 2-1 victory over Brentford, he said: “I’ve loved every minute of it, especially under the boss now. Just feeling the confidence.” The club is currently two points away from securing Champions League qualification for next season, with Mainoo central to their recent Premier League resurgence.
Beyond club football, Mainoo is also expected to be included in England’s squad for the World Cup this summer.
