IShowSpeed Makes History as First Streamer to go Scuba Diving LIVE in the Open Ocean

On April 26, 2026, Darren Watkins Jr. — the 20-year-old streamer who has built a career out of doing things nobody else would think to broadcast live — descended into the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Grenada and took his audience with him.

Millions of people watched in real time as he explored the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park in Molinere Bay, a genuinely breathtaking site that features hundreds of life-sized submerged figures, including the famous Circle of Children installation, a ring of statues that have slowly transformed into an artificial reef over the years.

It is the world’s first underwater sculpture park. And it now has a new claim to fame: it is where IShowSpeed became the first major streamer to ever broadcast a full live scuba dive in the open ocean.

The obvious problem with streaming underwater is that you cannot really talk. Speed’s solution was delightfully him: a magnetic writing board. He held messages up to the camera, gave thumbs-ups, reacted to fish, and at one point attempted his signature “Siuuu” celebration in full scuba gear beneath the surface.

At another moment, he held the board up to his chat with a message that simply read “I love you.” It was chaotic and earnest and completely on brand.

Peak concurrent viewership hit over 50,000 on YouTube, and the highlights went everywhere almost immediately. It is worth noting that this was not a spontaneous stunt either. Speed and his cameraman had gone ahead and completed open-water diver certification specifically to make the segment happen safely. That level of preparation tends to get lost in the chaos of his content, but it matters.

Industry observers have called it a genuine leap for live streaming, the kind of content that makes you realise the format still has unexplored territory. It also gave Grenada, one of the Caribbean’s most naturally stunning islands, a moment of global visibility that no tourism campaign could have bought.

Speed has already promised more underwater segments on future tour stops. Whatever comes next, the bar has been raised considerably.
