Comedian and content creator Druski will host the 2026 BET Awards, BET Networks announced on Thursday, making him the youngest person to front the ceremony in its 25-year history.
Born Drew Desbordes on September 12, 1994, the 31-year-old narrowly edges out Kevin Hart, who was also 31 but closer to 32 when he hosted in 2011. The show is scheduled to air live on Sunday, June 28, at 8 p.m. ET from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
Druski said he grew up watching the show and described the hosting role as an honour. “It’s an honor to be the youngest host EVER for the BET Awards. I grew up watching the BET Awards and, to know the comedic legends that hosted before me set the bar so high, I’m just grateful to be a part of the history,” he said in a statement.
The Maryland-born, Georgia-raised entertainer built his following through viral Instagram skits before expanding into comedy tours, acting roles and brand collaborations with artists including Drake and Lil Baby. In 2023 he founded the sports agency 4LiferSports, further extending his profile beyond entertainment.
Reaction online has been largely enthusiastic, with fans anticipating his unfiltered, high-energy style translating well to a live awards format. Some observers have questioned whether his famously chaotic approach will sit comfortably alongside the ceremony’s celebratory tone, though BET has expressed confidence in his ability to connect with younger audiences while honouring the show’s legacy.
The announcement continues BET’s recent pattern of turning to digital-native talent for its biggest broadcast of the year.
